  • Dance for a Cause- July 15th. Song: “Hotel Palestina” by Rola Azar and Phil Halo. We all dance for a reason. Whether it is for your health, for fun, or in this case to raise awareness. We all know the wars that constantly fill our headlines, and for many of us it effects us. What can we do? How can belly dance be effected by a battle or a policy? Let’s take a dive into culture of belly dance and how you can make a difference in the world around you. To continue with the theme, half the payment for this workshop will be donated to the Children of Gaza! Let’s help those kids!!!

  • Saidi- Jully 22nd. Song: “Saidi Cane” by The Henkesh Brothers. Saidi, one of the many rhythms we dance to, is more than just a rhythem. It is a people and way of life in Upper Egypt. Learning the rhythm and the use of your Assaya (cane). This fun little choreo will have you bouncing and smiling all night long.

  • Mahraganat- July 29th. Song: “Beggin’“ by DJ Yofa. Mahraganat is a newer form of dance coming from the streets of Cairo, Egypt. In particular the “ghetto" parts of Cairo this popular genre of music comes from the working people. It speaks of the everyday problems of society and with affluents of political unrest and how the every day person deals. This fast choreo will have your blood pumpin!

  • Balance Props- August 12th. Song: “Three Sisters” by Beats Antique. You are not a belly dancer without your balancing prop! With either a Sword or Candle tray you will learn to balance these objects while dancing. This fusion based choreo will work with any balance prop!

  • Veil- August 19th. Song: “Best of Times” Khaled Hammad. Exploring the prop, Veil, a piece of fabric that can help tell your story. Traditionally in Egyptian Style belly dance we enter with a veil and then toss away. We will make it the highlight of our choreo here instead!

Please fill out the form if you wish to participate in all 6 workshops.

Single workshops, no need to fill out form, please arrive a little before 6:30pm.
